About Course
Queer Journalism plays an indispensable role in contemporary media, offering unique perspectives and driving social change. It encompasses reporting, analysis, and commentary produced by and for LGBTQ+ (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, and others) individuals, addressing issues relevant to the community. The significance of queer journalism lies in its capacity to provide accurate representation, challenge dominant narratives, foster community, and advocate for equality.
Take Queer Journalism for free online and get started on helping our community make sure we are being represented by us and for us. It is important to utilize and protect our 1st Amendment Rights. Without it, we would not be free to be ourselves.
This class will take you through 6 different modules. While taking each module, think about a story that you would want to do for an article. To receive your certificate of completion, you must submit a final article with supporting media such as photos or graphics. These articles will be published under the Queer Journalism section on OutNW.com.
